New: Mira Event XS Power Shower: Fixing Motor Noise & Solenoid Faults

⚠️ SAFETY FIRST: READ BEFORE STARTING

Working on electric showers is dangerous. You are dealing with a high-voltage appliance (240V) and water.

  • ISOLATE POWER: Always turn off the electricity at the main consumer unit (fuse box) and pull the isolation cord before removing the shower cover.

  • VERIFY DEAD: Use a voltage tester to ensure no power is reaching the unit.

  • LEGALS: In the UK, major electrical work in bathrooms is "Part P" regulated. If you are not a competent person or are unsure of these tests, stop and consult a Part P qualified electrician.

  • DISCLAIMER: You follow these guides at your own risk. This site and its authors are not liable for any injury, loss, or damage caused by your repairs.

Mira event xs electric shower fault finding troubleshooting and repair

It seems the motor and solenoid valve both failed on this electric shower the armature winding was out of spec when tested causing a lot of noise from the motor and the solenoid valve was damaged too so obviously not working

Mira Event XS Component Testing:

  • Pump Motor: A healthy motor should typically read between 40 ohms and 60 ohms across the windings. If your reading is significantly higher or shows no continuity (Open Circuit), the armature is burnt out or the brushes are worn out.

  • Solenoid Valve: These coils usually read between 3.5 kOhms and 4.2 kOhms. If it’s outside this range, the valve won't open to let water through.

  • Carbon Brushes: If the motor "hums" but won't turn, check the brushes. If they are worn below 5mm, they will stop making contact with the commutator.

The Mira Event XS is a Power Shower, not an electric shower. It is designed to be fed from a cold water tank in the loft, NOT the mains. Connecting this unit to high-pressure mains water will burst the internal pump seals and flood your home.
